The Best of Chachapoyas in 5 Days / Tour Itinerary Private Service

Day 1: Chiclayo – Chachapoyas

Pick up from Chiclayo airport and transfer to your hotel in Chachapoyas city. (There are some fantastic panoramic views on the way to the city.)
Overnight in Chachapoyas

Day 2: Chachapoyas City Tour

Begin your day with a 9:30 a.m. pickup from your hotel, embarking on a journey to the charming pottery village of Huancas. Pause at its quaint central plaza, perfect for capturing memorable photos, before continuing to the breathtaking Huancaurco and La Goya canyons. These dramatic landscapes, carved by time, offer wonderful views that showcase the raw beauty of the region.

Returning to Chachapoyas, we’ll visit the scenic Luya Urco viewpoint and the historic Yanayacu, as well.

From there, explore Independence Square, also known as Burgos Square. Accompanied by your guide, stroll along Jr. Amazonas, a picturesque pedestrian street lined with exquisite colonial mansions and ornate balconies. This enchanting walk through Chachapoyas’ historic center reveals the timeless elegance of the “most faithful city” and its vibrant past. (B/L)

Day 3: Full Day Kuelap + Cable Car

We spend the day Kuelap, a spectacular pre-lnca walled city hidden atop a precipitous mountain. Although Kuelap was discovered 60 years before Machu Picchu, it is not as well-known to the outside world.

Nevertheless recent amazing discoveries in nearby areas that relate to Kuelap and to its history have captured the attention of archaeologists, international magazines and film companies. Orchids and Bromeliads cover the walls and trees, bearded with moss.

Leaving Kuelap, we proceed to the recently built cable car for a spectacularly panoramic 30-minute ride to Nuevo Tingo, where your driver will be waiting for the 1½-hour ride back to Chachapoyas. (B/L)

Day 4: Gocta Waterfalls

Pick up from hotel and departure to Cocachimba village, 1 hour by car. Arrival at the community, register at the ticket office; then begin a 2.5-hour hike to reach Gocta Waterfall and admire its unique beauty, take photographs and/or take a bath (optional as the water temperature is 8°C).

Return to Cocachimba community for lunch at a local restaurant. Arrival in Chachapoyas, end of services. (B/L)

Day 5: Chachapoyas – Chiclayo

Transfer to Chiclayo Airport for a connecting flight to Lima. (B/L)
