Day 1: Chiclayo – Chachapoyas
Pick up from Chiclayo airport and transfer to your hotel in the city of Chachapoyas. We will see panoramic views on the way to the city of Chachapoyas. Night in a hotel in Chachapoyas. (L)
Day 2: Karanjia – Choctamal
Our adventure began at 8:30 a.m. with a hotel pickup, followed by a journey to the village of Lamud. From there, we continued to the Quiocta Cavern, a 30-minute car ride to the tourist lodge. A short, scenic 5-minute walk brought us to the cavern entrance. Inside, we spent approximately 1½ hours marveling at the thousands of breathtaking stalactites and stalagmites that adorned this natural wonder.
After the visit, we returned to a restaurant in Lamud where you can enjoy a delicious lunch. Following the meal, we continued with a one-hour drive to the small town of Cruzpata. From there, a leisurely 30-minute walk led us to the renowned Sarcophagi of Karajía, dramatically embedded in a cliffside. Next, we explored another site featuring over thirty well-preserved sarcophagi nestled in a neighboring mountain — an extraordinary funerary tradition unique to Peru and the world.
Afterward, we retraced our steps back to Cruzpata and embarked on the return journey to Chachapoyas, arriving at approximately 6:00 p.m. (B/L)
Day 3: Kuélap and Cable Car
We spend the day at the Fortress of Kuelap, known as the Machu Picchu of Northern Peru. Kuelap has more than 400 stone structures within its walls and terraces, and is the largest limestone structure in the Americas. It stands at an altitude of more than 9840 feet above sea level (3000m.a.s.l.). Orchids and Bromeliads cover the walls and trees, bearded with moss. On the road back to Chachapoyas we can see the platforms of Macro, built on the ridges of a mountain on the banks of the Utcubamba River. (B/L)
