A new interpretation center was inaugurated last week at the Cajamarquilla ruins, one of the largest, most important and — until now — most under-appreciated pre-Hispanic archaeological complexes along Peru’s central coast.
The chief of Peru’s National Institute of Culture (INC) said Sunday that maintenance on the Inca Trail is on schedule for an April 1 opening following damage from torrential rains that also washed away portions of the train to Machu Picchu.
Train access to Machu Picchu that was cut off in late-January following torrential rain and landslides will be restored March 29 — three days ahead of schedule, the chief of railway concessionaire Ferrocarril Trasandino (Fetransa) said Thursday.
