Radioprogramas del Peru has reported that UNESCO has weighed in on the celebration plans and as a result, Peru’s government will be restricting access of journalists and the planned fireworks display at the ruins is being canceled. Most importantly the concert will not be held in the Citadel. Still no official word on where it will be relocated to.

Peru’s Ministry of Culture has announced that Machu Picchu will be closed on July 6-7 to make way for the 100-year anniversary celebration of Hiram Bingham’s scientific discovery of the Inca citadel.
The Yale Daily News is reporting that crates marked “fragile” are already filled with artifacts excavated from Machu Picchu and stacked in a corner room in a building on Yale University’s West Campus, ready to go.
