DAY 1 Reception and Transfer
Reception. Transfer from the airport to the hotel.
DAY 2 Pachacamac Ruins & Lima City Tour
Breakfast. Morning Excursion to Pachacamac Ruins: the temple of the deity, Pachacamac, the creator of the universe and a divinity adored by old Andean civilizations, where thousands of pilgrims converged to pay tribute and consult the Pachacamac oracle, whom they believed could see the past, the future and the fate of all people. The site comprises pyramidal temples and enclosures built by successive pre-Colombian civilizations and finally the Inca. Lunch at La Casa de Don Cucho, a former hacienda transformed into a sprawling rustic restaurant specializing in classic Peruvian cuisine. Transfer back to Lima for City Tour: Visit the Main Square in Lima's Historic center, The Cathedral, the Government Palace, San Francisco Monastery, continue on to the Catacombs museum. Then tour of the Huaca Pucllana ruins. Transfer to hotel to relax. Evening outing to the Huaca Pucllana Restaurant for a magical dinner at the foot of the ruins. (B/L/D)
DAY 3 Larco Museum and Inca Rebellion Lecture
Breakfast. Puruchuco Lecture. Visit the Larco Museum for guided tour of a magnificent collection of artifacts from Peru's pre-Columbian cultures, from the earliest known civilizations, which were contemporaneous with Egypt and Mesopotamia, to the later Mochica and Inca empires and through the Spanish Conquest of the 16th century. Then on to the office and lab of Dr. Guillermo Cock, one of Peru's leading archaeologists, who will offer his cutting-edge historical insights on the latter years of the Inca Empire and the Spanish Conquest. Lunch at Junius Restaurant. Night outing for late dinner and floor show at Brisas del Titicaca: a premier showcase of traditional Peruvian dance, food and drink. (B/L/D)
