{"id":9962,"date":"2015-02-07T10:49:29","date_gmt":"2015-02-07T15:49:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/?p=9962"},"modified":"2016-01-14T18:02:19","modified_gmt":"2016-01-14T23:02:19","slug":"13th-annual-national-pisco-sour-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/2015\/13th-annual-national-pisco-sour-day\/9962\/","title":{"rendered":"13th Annual National Pisco Sour Day!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was 13 years ago today\u00a0that the tradition was born: The first Saturday of every February is Peru&#8217;s National Pisco Sour day.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Journalist Virginia Rey-Sanchez, then a reporter for Dow Jones Newswire, was the person who first proposed the idea of a day dedicated to Peru&#8217;s delectable cocktail to her friend and mentor Raul Vargas, the voice of Radioprogramas radio, and\u00a0publicist Gustavo Rodriguez.<\/p>\n<p>They\u00a0then\u00a0turned\u00a0to this man, Eloy Cuadros, head barman of the legendary Maury Hotel bar in historic downtown Lima, to provide the official recipe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9967 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Renowned-Peruvian-barman-Eloy-Cuadros-poors-a-delectable-double-pisco-sour-.jpg\" alt=\"Visitors from all over the world \u2014 American, French, Spanish, Chinese, Canadian \u2014  make it  a point to take a break during their  tour of Lima to stop by the Maury bar and have one its legendary Pisco Sours, mixed by Eloy Cuadros.\" width=\"498\" height=\"372\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Renowned-Peruvian-barman-Eloy-Cuadros-poors-a-delectable-double-pisco-sour-.jpg 498w, https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/Renowned-Peruvian-barman-Eloy-Cuadros-poors-a-delectable-double-pisco-sour--300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 498px) 100vw, 498px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I gave the official recipe in 2002, when the official day of pisco sour was first declared,&#8221; says Cuadros, as he mixes up a double. &#8220;Three-one-one. People do come from all over to try the pisco sour and because they want to meet me.
