{"id":7232,"date":"2013-08-15T19:36:04","date_gmt":"2013-08-16T00:36:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/?p=7232"},"modified":"2015-12-29T15:39:25","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T20:39:25","slug":"google-wants-ok-to-scan-machu-picchu-into-google-street-view","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/2013\/google-wants-ok-to-scan-machu-picchu-into-google-street-view\/7232\/","title":{"rendered":"Google wants OK to scan Machu Picchu into Google Street View"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is the Machu Picchu experience about to get more virtual?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Google wants permission to scan the famed Inca citadel and other archaeological sites, like Chan Chan, into its Google Street View platform, daily <a href=\"http:\/\/elcomercio.pe\/actualidad\/1617871\/noticia-machu-picchu-chan-chan-tambien-se-veran-google-street-view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">El Comercio reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Maite Iturria, the Google Street View manager for Latin America, told the newspaper that Google Inc. initiated discussions with Peru&#8217;s Ministry of Culture to allow one of its Street View Trekkers \u2014 essentially a Google employee with a 360 degree camera for a backpack \u2014 to roam the ruins.<\/p>\n<p>Google also asked permission to take the 360 degree scans of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/trujillo-info\/trujillo-highlights\">Chan Chan<\/a> and &#8220;many other&#8221; major archaeological sites around the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to build the perfect map and Peru is one of the countries in the region with the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/peru-packages\/cultural-peru-14-days-13-nights\"> greatest amount of cultural wealth<\/a>, and we want to be able to count on that,&#8221;
