This cultural tourism exhibition, titled\u00a0&#8220;Turismo sobre rieles hacia el Valle del Mantaro\u201d\u009d\u00a0 (<em>Tourism on the rails to the Mantaro Valley<\/em>) will run from Sept. 12 through Oct,. 19 in the historic building, located behind the Government Palace in Lima&#8217;s historic center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Passengers-aboard-the-Lima-Huancayo-Train-June-9-2012.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4726\" title=\"Passengers aboard the Lima-Huancayo Train, June 9, 2012\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Passengers-aboard-the-Lima-Huancayo-Train-June-9-2012-300x258.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Passengers-aboard-the-Lima-Huancayo-Train-June-9-2012-300x258.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Passengers-aboard-the-Lima-Huancayo-Train-June-9-2012.jpg 453w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The non-profit event is being organized by Peruvian railway expert and guide Jorge Zelaya (Koki Zelaya), who co-authored a comprehensive bi-lingual guide <em>Lima-Huancayo Railway: An adventure in The Andes<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by architect Rafael Marquina, Desamparados was the first steel-framed building in Peru \u2014 emulating Parisian details, including an Art Nouveau style stained glass skylight and ornate neo-classic columns and iron work.<\/p>\n<p>The station was named after the nearby neighborhood church, Nuestra Se\u00f1ora de los Desamparados.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, the building was renamed &#8216;Casa de la Literatura Peruana&#8217;
