There are no Covid-19 restrictions to trek the Inca Trail!  <\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>The protocols are remarkably common-sense and mostly maskless. <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/inca-trail-tours\/\">The <em><strong>Inca Trail<\/strong><\/em> and <strong>Machu Picchu<\/strong><\/a> are open, albeit with capacity limits and health protocols still in place. The daily entry limit for the Inca Trail is 250 people per day, including guides and porters. Currently masks aren't required during most of the hike.\" class=\"wp-image-13765\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/taking-stunning-photos-on-the-inca-trail-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/taking-stunning-photos-on-the-inca-trail.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wearing a mask is <em>NOT<\/em> required for most of the trek on the Inca Trail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Masks are mandatory when you check in at Km 82 (<em>Piscacucho<\/em>), during certain points once you reach camp sites, at the checkpoints and for the visits to Wi\u00f1ayhuayna and Machu Picchu. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Otherwise the only requirement is that small groups of hikers maintain a safe distance from each other on the trail. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Covid-19 protocols on the Inca Trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The current regulations require group sizes of eight plus a <em>guide<\/em>, which in practice means two guides for groups with more than nine people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The health protocols put a lot of emphasis on sanitizing surfaces and washing hands once you reach the camp sites and enter your dining tents for the well-deserved, delicious meals your cook and porters have set up for you ahead of your arrival.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Health and safety rules at Machu Picchu <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you reach the Inti Punku Sun Gate and make that glorious descent to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/machu-picchu-tour\/#Inti_Punku_Sun_Gate\" title=\"\">Machu Picchu, you will have to don the mask and maintain a certain distance from other groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is one small part of the <em>Qhapaq \u00d1an road network<\/em>, which formed the backbone of the <strong>Inca Empire<\/strong>\u2019s political and economic power.
