{"id":12564,"date":"2016-10-14T16:09:56","date_gmt":"2016-10-14T21:09:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/?p=12564"},"modified":"2024-08-26T11:08:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-26T16:08:02","slug":"what-cusco-tours-could-look-like-in-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fertur-travel.com\/blog\/2016\/what-cusco-tours-could-look-like-in-2025\/12564\/","title":{"rendered":"What Cusco tours could look like in 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>[Originally published October 14, 2016]<\/strong> Sightseeing around Cusco could\u00a0be a vehicle-free experience by 2025, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/elcomercio.pe\/sociedad\/cusco\/cusco-plantean-cambios-favor-peaton-y-transporte-publico-noticia-1938469?ref=portada_la-haya&amp;ft=megamenu&amp;e=titulo_5\" rel=\"nofollow\">a proposed plan unveiled\u00a0yesterday<\/a> by city officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Conceived with UNESCO and funded by&nbsp;the World Bank to the tune of $800 million, the Qhapaq \u00d1an 2 plan would&nbsp;convert&nbsp;Cusco&#8217;s center into a pedestrian-only zone to&nbsp;enhance and conserve&nbsp;the World Heritage site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That means no cars whatsoever when you tour the Main&nbsp;Plaza, the Plaza de San Blas, Plaza San, Avenida El Sol to the Coricancha-Santo Domingo temple, Calle Plateros and other important sites in the&nbsp;Imperial City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">City planners and are also looking at a comprehensive&nbsp; makeover of Cusco&#8217;s public transportation system, promising to be able to deliver commuters from any outer neighborhood to the historic center in no more than 15 to 20 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But there is more.
