An Inca archaeological site that dates from the 15th century, it was mentioned by the early colonial historians Garcilaso de la Vega, Cieza de Le\u00f3n and Guaman Poma de Ayala. They all considered it among the most audacious works of engineering built by the Inca. The most important feature of the site is the Temple of Wiracocha, an enormous two-story structure, more than 90 meters long, and 18 to 20 meters high. Before the Spanish destroyed it the temple was considered to be among the largest buildings in the empire. The site also includes military barracks, priests quarters, “the baths of the Inca,” living quarters known as Raccay Raccay, the cemeteries of Ccumo Ccacca, a zone of terraces and the royal road, among other constructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
