Colca Canyon Video

Colca Canyon is one of the deepest canyons in the world.

At 10,727 feet (or 3,270 meters) deep, it's more than twice as deep as the Grand Canyon, and is neck and neck with the nearby, but almost inaccessible Cotahausi Canyon for the title of world's deepest.

Dotted along the ridges, and hidden in ravines you'll find villages where Andean traditions and culture still thrive.

Each ridge provides a new breathtaking view of spectacular river valleys, lined with pre-Inca terraces carved into the mountainside.

From their nests in the rock face, Andean condors soar overhead, with a wingspan of up to 10 feet across.

The Canyon draws adventure sports enthusiasts with mountain biking, white river rafting and kayaking.

But the trek into and out of the Canyon is an adventure in itself, with dozens of switchbacks along paths that meander around and under enormous cliffs formed from volcanic rock.
