The temples feature magnificent bas-relief friezes depicting fishing, dancers, prisoners of war, and ritual human sacrifice.
In 2004, escavation revealed five tombs in the northwest patio of the Cao Viejo temple. In one of them, archaeologist Regulo Franco discovered the mummified remains of a woman decorated with tattoos of snakes and spiders.
