Chachapoyas
Peru's northern cloud forest, a destination less known than Cusco and more challenging to travel, but completely worth the effort to get to. Hidden in this rugged jungle mountain terrain are magnificent archaeological ruins left behind by the Chachapoya, a fierce warrior culture that successfully staved off repeated Inca invasions before finally succumbing to the empire around 1470. |
